Paradise in the Valley

Rhebokskloof Wine Estate, part of the Paarl wine route, nestles between two valleys at the foot of the majestic Paarl Mountain, just 45 minutes from the city of Cape Town. The perfect positioning of our heritage buildings further complements the natural beauty of the area. With its rolling lawns, tranquil lakes, willow trees and hectare upon hectare of vineyards, Rhebokskloof is described as a “plush paradise” and is one of the wine lands’ most beautiful farms.
Delicious meals are served at The Rhebok Restaurant and superb function venues. Rhebokskloof Wine Estate is open every day of the year and offers plenty to do for the whole family, from quad biking, horse riding and picnics to food-pairings and great live shows. Paarl, the third oldest town in South Africa, is just five minutes away from Rhebokskloof and is a historian’s delight.
Rhebokskloof Wine Estate is renowned for its top quality, award-winning wines. In addition, it’s not surprising when you consider that vines and viticulture have been the backbone of the farm for a long, long time. A large selection of wines are available on the farm, 16 to be exact, from premium to second label to sparkling wines.
I have been there twice this year and there has been a vast improvement all round on the estate since my last visit earlier this year. the best way I can explain it is ‘passion’, the staff on hand were very motivated and passionate about the farm from the servers in the restaurant to the wine makers. The grounds were in immaculate condition, as well as the restaurant and patio area. A sense of belonging!
There were four wines that stood out for me from the whole portfolio:
Mountain Vineyards ‘Sandstone Grove’ Reserve Chardonnay 2007
Rhebokskloof Estate Mouvedre, Shiraz, Grenache Blend 2008
Rhebokskloof Estate MCC 2007 Blanc de blanc
Pearlstone Merlot Rose 2009
Heaps of Swirls!
